Turmeric Dust (For Easy Turmeric Milk and More)
Turmeric is one of those foods that more and more people are trying to incorporate into their lives for the health benefits. I am no exception. I love turmeric and know how it can support a healthy inflammatory process but I must admit that I don’t add it into my diet and much as I would like. Despite the fact that I have created lots of recipes that use this amazing spice including rice pudding, stew, smoothies, and a quinoa dish.
I have made turmeric milk before and I do love it but just never found myself making it as much as I wanted to. I recently came across a new product that was essentially all the ingredients found in turmeric milk in a one and done powder. I get excited when I see products like this because I know that it means that companies are trying to meet the healthy demands of their consumers. I really like this idea of a ready made powder that could make turmeric milk super easy to prepare and more approachable for those that might be intimidated by the process.
I wanted to create my own to share with you so that everyone could have the ability to incorporate this super food into their lives. I keep this powder on my counter and try to incorporate it into as many things as I possibly can to get the healing benefits of this golden root. I am also happy to report that I am making (and enjoying) turmeric milk now more than ever because I can literally make it in 3 minutes. Warm some milk on the stove and add some powder….done and done!
My brain can’t stop coming up with numerous ways to use this turmeric dust and I plan on sharing some recipes with you so that you too can use this spice everyday and reap the benefits. I would love to hear your ideas or see how you use this turmeric dust. A jar of this would make an amazing gift of health!
Ingredients
- 1/4 cup turmeric powder
- 1/4 cup coconut sugar
- 2 tablespoons ground cinnamon
- 1 tablespoon ground ginger
- 1 tablespoon vanilla powder
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cardamom
- 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper *optional note: if you don't tolerate pepper, leave out the black pepper and make sure to add this powder to something with a healthy fat to improve absorption
Instructions
-
Mix all of the ingredients into a bowl and store in an airtight jar.
-
I recommend using spices within 6 months to preserve the flavors and nutrients.
-
This can be stored in the freezer to preserve for longer.
-
Turmeric Milk Instructions: Warm 1 cup of milk on the stove and add 1 teaspoon of the powder. I like to whip it up in a blender so that it gets foamy like a latte.
Recipe Notes
*choose organic ingredients when possible.
I feel as though I may turn yellow soon with the amount of turmeric I eat 😉
Haha! Just think of how healthy you will be though.
I am so excited to try this. Like, I can’t wait till tomorrow! ????
I am so glad that a recipe of mine can bring you such excitement. I hope you love it!
I use maple syrup instead of coconut sugar and I think it’s imperative to add the black pepper because of the few studies I’ve read on this, it’s the KEY to absorption. Thank you so much for your website. I am suffering from auto-immune diseases and there are some wonderful recipes here that I can use. May good karma come your way <3
Yes black pepper can help with the absorption from turmeric but fat also helps so if the dish contains fat (like with full fat coconut milk) then black pepper may not be as critical. I am so happy to hear that your are using food to help you with your health and I am glad that my recipes are ones that work for you!
